In 2020, during the peak of the pandemic, my dear friend was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer and had to be hospitalized. Speaking with her, I knew she was terrified, not just by her diagnosis, but also by the fear of contracting COVID-19. My intent was to send her a card, but I thought, she is going to be there for a bit, and paper gets damaged from wear and tear, why not make her a framed art piece. The first image that came to mind was that of a tree because I have always been fascinated by them. Each is unique and for me — they represent strength.
As you can see, I came a long... way since my first creation!
EXCERPT from a text message I received:
“This is one of my prized positions. It arrived at my lowest point and was what helped me through those difficult days. Thanks Faith for thinking of me. You’re so… creative!” - Linda
